Preserving Our Home – Providing for Our Community!

The Project

To continue serving as a safe, welcoming resource for women and the broader community, the Valparaiso Woman’s Association must preserve and maintain its historic home. In 2022, the organization completed a comprehensive historic assessment that identified critical structural and preservation needs necessary to protect the building for future generations.

As one of the few remaining structures built by Charles Lembke, this landmark represents an important piece of Valparaiso’s architectural and cultural history. Guided by the findings of the assessment, the Association is embarking on a capital campaign to fund major preservation projects, including a much-needed roof replacement.

Preserving this historic home is about more than protecting a building—it is about ensuring that community organizations, neighborhood initiatives, and future generations continue to have access to a safe and vibrant gathering place. With ongoing investment and community support, this "lovely lady" will remain a cherished part of Valparaiso’s history and future.
